Prevention of influenza disease caused by influenza A subtype & type B viruses
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that quadrivalent vaccines to be used in the 2020-2021 influenza season (northern hemisphere winter virus) contain the following:
- A/ Guangdong-Maonan/SWL1536/2019 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
- A/ Hong Kong/2671/2019 (H3N2)-like virus;
- B/ Washington/02/2019-like virus; and
- B Phuket/3073/2013-like virus.
Product Details:
Intramuscular injection of inactivated influenza vaccine
- Individuals ≥9 years old: Single-dose
- Individuals 6 months - 8 years old: 1 or 2 doses are required and recommended to have 2 vaccines at least 1 month apart.
Guidelines for Children Having Influenza Vaccine
- 13 to 17 years old – Doctor’s assessment can be waived if the child is between 13– 17 years old and being accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian, in which case his/her parent or legal guardian will sign the Health Declaration Form on the child’s behalf at the time of vaccination.
- An International Guideline has been given that children aged under 9 years and who have NOT received any influenza vaccination previously, are recommended to have 2 vaccines at least 1 month apart. Children who reach the age of 9 years require 1 shot of influenza vaccine only.
Remarks:
If you have any of the conditions, you are recommended to seek further advice from your doctor before receiving vaccination:
- suffering from any acute, chronic or severe illness or any illness (with or without fever) e.g. upper respiratory tract infection, common cold
- allergic to egg or chicken protein, gentamicin sulphate, formaldehyde, haemagglutinin, sodium deoxycholate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, octoxinol-10 or polysorbate 80, Neomycin, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, RRR-α-tocopheryl hydrogen succinate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, Disodium phosphate dehydrate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate
- allergy or serious reaction to drug or vaccine in the past
- blood disorder e.g. thrombocytopenia, coagulation disorder
- immunocompromised
Term and Condition
- The product is applicable to individuals aged under 13 (age according to the date of vaccination).
- Under 13 years old – Doctor’s assessment is compulsory before influenza vaccination.
- 13 to 17 years old – Doctor’s assessment can be omitted if the child is between 13 – 17 years old and being accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian, in which case his/her parent or legal guardian will sign the Health Declaration Form on the child’s behalf at the time of vaccination.
- An International Guideline has been given that children under 9 years old and who have NOT received any influenza vaccination previously, are recommended to have 2 vaccines at least 1 month apart. Children who reach 9 years old require 1 shot of flu vaccine only.
- TWO Flu Vaccine Redemption Letters (hardcopy or electronic copy) will be issued for children under 9 years old and need to receive 2 shots of flu vaccine. Please present a Flu Vaccine Redemption Letter on each appointment day.
- Should a doctor assessment be required or requested (including adult or child of any age), an additional fee of HK$100 will be charged.
- In case of disputes, the decision of Quality HealthCare Medical Services Limited and health.ESDlife shall be final.
