Varicella is an acute infectious disease that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It is transmissed by droplets or air. Apart from fever, itchy rash will also appear. The skin rash will turn into vesicles, and if those vesicles are scratched, permanent scars may be formed. The disease may be complicated by pneumonia, encephalitis, or even fatal in severe cases.
Recommended for: young children should receive the first dose of Varicella vaccine at one year of age, followed by the second dose at least 3 months apart.
