About the production organization
PODIE was established in Sri Lanka in 1974 as an organization dedicated to promoting fair trade and providing job opportunities for local women and families. The organic tea and organic spices sold at Fairpoint are directly purchased by PODIE from local small farmers, reducing the exploitation of middlemen. There are more than 1,500 spice farmers who provide raw materials to PODIE. In addition to obtaining higher purchase prices than the market, they have also learned techniques such as organic farming.
