Bilberries (European blueberries) are a common ingredient in traditional European households, often used to make jams or wine. A double-blind controlled study of 281 office workers indicated that oral administration of bilberry extract significantly improved visual fatigue caused by acute video display terminal (AVD) overload.

2. Improved eye adaptability in dark environments [2]

A double-blind, blank-controlled crossover study showed that the adaptability to dark environments after taking bilberry extract was significantly higher than that of the blank control group (the group that did not take bilberry).

3. Balances tear secretion[3]

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial indicated that oral administration of standardized bilberry extract helped increase tear secretion (measured by Schirmer’s test) and significantly improved symptoms of dry eyes.
