Know more about diseases:
・Diphtheria: mainly affects the respiratory tract (respiratory diphtheria) and occasionally the skin (cutaneous diphtheria). Symptoms depend on the affected area. In severe cases, it may cause the patient to have difficulty breathing.
・Whooping cough: Also known as "chicken cough", there may be no special symptoms at the beginning of the disease, but the cough will become more and more serious, hindering the patient's eating and breathing. Bacteria can infect the lungs and in severe cases can cause convulsions and coma.
・Tetanus: Patients may experience muscle contracture in the upper, lower jaw and neck, and sometimes the body may also be affected. Severe cases cannot swallow or open their mouths, and severe cases may die due to difficulty breathing.
・Polio: Mainly affects young children. Patients may experience fever, headache, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, muscle pain, neck and back stiffness, and paralysis. Most patients recover; however, severe cases can lead to permanent disability or even death.
・Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib): This infection is more common in children under 5 years old. Symptoms of meningitis and the bacteria entering the bloodstream are most common. It can also affect various parts of the body, such as the lungs, epiglottis (upper part of the throat), joints, and bones.
・Hepatitis B: Hepatitis B virus can cause acute hepatitis. Less than 5% of children under 5 years of age and 30-60% of adults develop symptoms. Common symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, yellowing of the whites of the eyes, dark urine, and earthy or light-colored stools. Approximately 5 to 10% of adult patients and 95% of maternally infected infants fail to clear the virus and develop chronic hepatitis, permanent liver damage, or liver cancer.
