Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a painful skin rash caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus (the same virus that causes chickenpox). Anybody has had chickenpox, the virus that causes shingles is already inside your body. It can reactivate at any time, and your risk increases as your immune system naturally declines with age.
Shingrix is the shingles vaccine demonstrating over 90% efficacy in clinical trials. It provides strong protection against shingles and neuralgia, the most common complications of shingles.
How:
Intramuscular Injection
A total of 2 doses are required to complete the vaccination schedule:
- 2 doses separated by 2-6 months
Remarks:
If you have the following condition, you are recommended to seek advice before receiving vaccination.
- You are allergic to any of its ingredients
- You had allergic reaction to medication or previous vaccination
