We recommend a comprehensive health check once a year. It should generally cover blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, diabetes, liver and kidney function, thyroid function and heart health. An ultrasound scan is also recommended to check your organs and tissues for abnormalities.
Gynecological Examination

A gynaecological check-up usually includes a physical examination, a breast and pelvic examination, and blood tests. Women aged 20 or above, or who are sexually active, should have a Pap smear every year to check for abnormal cervical cells. Women aged 30 or above should have a breast and pelvic ultrasound every year to check the breasts, uterus and ovaries for cysts and tumours. From age 40, women should also have a mammogram and a heart check-up every year. After menopause, colorectal screening and a bone density test are recommended.

Men should start having regular health checks at age 30. These include a basic full-body examination and screening for cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and osteoporosis. Heart function gradually declines from age 45, so a heart check-up is recommended every year from then on. Men over 50 should have annual colorectal, lung and prostate screening, including ultrasound scans and tumour markers, to assess their cancer risk. Men going through andropause should also have a bone density test.
